Ca'n Beneit
Antique Estate of Binibona (Selva)

Ca'n Beneit was the major estate of the hamlet of Binibona. The remote origin of this hamlet originally named Benimala and then Binibona can be traced back to before the conquest of Majorca by King Jaime Ist in 1229 who made Majorca a Kingdom. Before the conquest, the Island was under muslim domination since a very long time, which explains why we can still find many villages with the prefix "bini" (house of...). From this we can then easily reason that Binibona already existed before the 13th century.
The Conqueror King in his "Distribution" gave the land to some of his Knights who accompanied him in the conquest. A large portion of this territory was thus alocated to the Marquis of Palmer according to the remaining archives.
The hamlet of Binibona, reached, in the first decades of the 20 c. - so our grandfathers told us - a notable resurgence. It was then composed of about 30 houses and of another 10 spread out in the area and which corresponded to the neighbouring estates. The means of exsistence of its habitants was based on agriculture, its main occupation.

The small hamlet of Binibona which belongs to the town hall of Selva suffered, after the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) and after the Second World War (1939-1945) the exodus of its population who easily encountered better paid employment in the Capital and in the major towns of the Island, fleeing the efforts and harsh labour of the work in the fields. This exodus came to an end however, thanks to the reconversion, in the last decade of these antique Seignorial Estates into charming Rural Hotels or Agrotourism.
This is the case of the Estate or Finca of Ca'n Beneit, which, thanks to a much dedicated effort by its owners the Familly Vicens-Coll, is today a fine example of an ancestral mansion reconverted into a highly attractive complex where visitors are sure to enjoy perfect comfort within an enchanting rural "habitat". The Familly Vicens-Coll, inheritor of all the traditions of Majorcan rural life, is always happy to inform and transmit its experience and knowledge to the interested visitors.

Ca'n Beneit, enclaved in a space of paradise in the "Sierra de Tramuntana de Mallorca", with its particulular beauty which subjugate the visitors guarantees a stay of complete relaxation in a dreamlike atmosphere that you will not easily forget.
